MYTH #1: My home is new so I cannot have a radon problem.
- FACT: This is simply not true. New homes can have high levels of radon just like older homes. Radon comes from the ground soil so it does not matter when the house was built. Read more about Residential New Construction
MYTH #2: My neighbor doesn’t have radon levels so my house is fine.
- FACT: This is also not true. Your home could have twice as much radon as your neighbors’ home. Again radon is a byproduct of materials left in the soil so even if your neighbor doesn’t have high levels, does not mean your levels will be low. Read more about Residential Radon Testing
MYTH #3: Radon can’t really be harmful, I’ve lived here for 25 years and I am healthy.
- FACT: The truth is that radon is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers. Only people who smoke have a higher risk of getting lung cancer. MYTH #4: I don’t have cracks in my basement floor so radon cannot enter my home.
